First Day of School

Summer is over.  Boo-hoo.  It was a good one, well, minus all that flood stuff.  Given that we are enjoying an unusually mild August; I suspect it will be hotter than Hades OR snowing in September.

School started this week.  Gaby's first day of kindergarten and Taylor's first day of high school.  There were no tears and not much fanfare.  It pretty much just seemed like another day.  We don't get bussed, so the whole getting them there and picking them up (different schools, different times) is pretty much a pain in the butt.

Schedule highlights for Taylor are her first AP class, French, Algebra; low-lights include health, Algebra and the last lunch of the day.  The transition seems quite natural.  She's trying out for the Opus Honor Choir again and show choir try outs are next week.  Seminary started already, too.  That's a morning religious education class before school.every day.6am.  Throws a kink in our swimming routine, so if anyone of you need to reach me around 4am I'll be in the pool.

Lydia and Gaby both got the teachers we wanted.  Lydia got her best friend in her class for the 3rd straight year.  Gaby was so sad after the first day because she hadn't made any friends.  She thought that all the kids were already friends and that no one wanted to be her friend.  Yesterday when I picked her up, she was beaming and proudly announced that she had made 12 friends.  Later she said, "Actually, it was a lot more than 12, it was 13!"

You go, Gaby, 13 friends is WAY more than I ever had! Oh my how adorable are your children? I really just can't believe it... Is O-Man doing Joy School?

Also, props on the dedication of being in the pool at 4 am. Serious, serious props.

PS- when I first saw the picture of Gaby with her teacher, I thought the teachers name was

MRS. GANGSTER.

And how awesome would that be?

Awesome. That would go along well with Gaby's love for gangsta rap. In the next Gaby/teacher photo opp I'll ask them to throw some gang signs.

I did my first 4:30 swim yesterday. Dang that is early. Seriously.

Sara. You have a big tubbie. Swim in IT. At, say, 9 AM. (Seriously LMBO trying to picture you doing the butterfly in your tubbie.) Give yourself a few extra hours sleep! Swimming is like drugs to you, girly! You can't get enough!
Your kids are so extra cute. What is with all my nieces and nephews being amazingly, incredibly, really, really good looking?
