Beach wildlife. Sand crabs burrow into the sand and leave holes all over the place. Every once in a while we'd inadvertently dig one up. They're funny to watch skitter across the sand.
Argh! It's Cap'n Gaby. We had a swell piratey party for the Gabster on her 5th birthday. The treasure hunt was a riot, I wish I would had recorded it with a digital video recorder. Jerry pretended to be a pirate for one of the clues at the big pirate flag. The kids had to accomplish all kinds of piratey obstacles in order to earn the next clue. Nana and I were laughing so hard.

Ahoy, me matey! Glad you guys had so much fun at the shore. Is Gaby into pirates, or was that just the theme due to your nautical location?
You guys are SUCH a CUTE CUTE CUTE family! I love to see you all!!
location, location, location, Alyssa. Topsail actually got its name because Pirates used to hide in the marshy areas and attack merchant ships passing by. Merchants would then look for the tops of the sails to know if it was safe to pass through or not. But I didn't know that until after the blimey party.
It looks like you had a great vacation! You captured some really great photos. I keep checking back for Vacation Days 5,6, and 7! ;)
