Yesterday it was questonable if the show would go on, with forecasts of ice, freezing rain, snow, blizzard conditions, etc. I was really looking forward to a possible late start and not having to get up at 5:30 to do Taylor's hair. This show choir stuff is a big deal in these parts. Anyway, no such luck, as in most cases involving forecasts of catestrophic amounts of snow, nothing happened overnight.
The weather forecasts did cause many school to cancel. FLaPCo (Taylor's goup) performed first and did a good job. Their vocals aren't as strong as last year, but the choreography was good and the song selections were fun and their costumes were really cute. They didn't win the middle school bracket, but it was fun none-the-less.
The pictures aren't great. No flash allowed and my camera has minimal zoom. After the morning round we left and found about 1/4 inch of ice covering everything and the freezing rain continued for most of the day. The blizzard warning is in effect and we have heard anything from 1"-14" of snow, at least the meteorologists have their bases covered. We still have power; my parents lost theirs earlier and other parts of CR are out, too. We do have a neighbor who works for Alliant Energy, maybe that gives our street special privileges? Big branches keep falling on the roof, since it's brand new, hopefully nothing falls through it.
In other news... Taylor (braceface as Auntie Alyssa calls her) is getting her braces off on March 12th! She is so excited. Only 14 months with them on. She'll have to wear a retainer regularly for awhile, but her ortho is very pleased with how great her teeth look.

Taylor you are so grown up. You look beautiful. I can sense how proud your mom is and and so are we. We hope to hear an encore SOLO presentation on Puttin on the Ritz this summer in Colorado! We love you!!!
And why exactly didn't I see Taylor on American Idol this season??? Just kidding, but I'm also VERY proud of braceface. I'm going to have to think very hard for another creative, dazzling, hilarious, insanely awesome nickname for Ta-May-May once she gets her braces off... Hmmm... the ideas are already spinning!!
Taylor, I second the whole solo performance for this summer! In fact, I'm putting it on the itinerary! (I'm also putting a duet for you and Aunt Lylla to perform the Jake the Fish song...)
Lookin' good, Kilgores!
