Our weekend in Oklahoma was fun. We went to see Scott & Christy and their boys, Zach and Ty. Grandma and Grandpa Kilgore were there, too. Sadly, Anna and her boys Cameron and Miles were MIA, as they had a car accident enroute. They are all fine, but we missed cousin-palooza that would have been. It started off a little chilly, but warmed up enough that the cousins were able to run around outside, after spending a lot of time running around in circles inside. They even got a head start on future biology classes, as we found a mostly disected mouse outside. It's a toss up as to which was cooler, the dead frozen squirrel at our place or the mouse at theirs. The world is a classroom, right? I could so home-school my kids. HA!
Scott, Jerry's brother, is now a Navy pilot, hence the trip to OK where we got to be a part of his graduation/winging ceremony. A huge accomplishment for him and for his family. We're very proud to have him and Karl (brother-in-law) both serving our country (cue the Star Spangled Banner and fireworks). Seriously, though, we're thankful to them for what they do.
Taylor and Lydi stayed in Iowa with Monka and Nana, so they wouldn't miss school. Taylor also had her first show choir concert with competitions starting up this weekend. I'll get pics of her in her costume - very sparklely AND she even dances in heels. Monka and Nana made sure the girls had fun with a fancy dinner on the river, a trip to the mall, a movie, a Hawk game. I don't think the girls suffered too much. While I'm grateful that I don't have picky eaters to feed, Taylor is developing a fondness for expensive cuisine. Her favorite thing to eat is one of Monka's "fresh from the butcher grilled to perfection steaks." She ordered salmon, calamari and the soup de jour (tomato something). How many 12 year olds eat like that?
That's a wrap on the weekend. On the way home, Gaby was practically tearing her shirt off, and we were like, "Uh, what are you doing, Gabs?" She said, "I'm looking for my bookmark." She has a tiny birthmark on her shoulder and felt like she needed to find it. Oh and while we were babysitting the kids Friday night, Zach intently studied Jerry's scalp and remarked, "Uncle Jerry, where is the rest of your hair?"

We had a blast with you all. Looking forward to our next family excursion. Love, hugs and kisses to all the girls and my sweet puckered up nephew!!!
I myself have also often wondered where the rest of Jerry's hair went... AND- I got your fudge in the mail today! Ammmmmmmmazing!
Glad it arrived - that took longer than expected - darn those postal holidays. Anyway, I messed up the chocolate batch, but it was edible and I could not bring myself to throw it away. Let us (Anna and myself) know when you finish the fudge and rip another pair of jeans.
I'm crying inside and the song "All by myself" is playing softly in my head as I read this post. We missed you and we're counting down the days until Cameron can be reunited with Gaby Gaby Gaby.
Seriously, sis, you're hilarious.
And I really DO hope Lylla bursts the seams of another pair of jeans!
Do you need me to send some fudge your way? My intent was to send some home with you thanks to Chase's "I like fudge" comment. Seriously, I hate to think of you being all lonely AND depressed with no fudge to life your spirits.
I'm thinking of incorporating my ripped jeans into a quilt or something, to pay homage to my huge-ified butt. Sara, you're the quilter, will that work?? Holla back at me, yo.
I have seen quilts made out of old jeans, though you'd have to make sure there's actually enough fabric left in the jeans... that was a mighty big hole.
"Ouch"
