Floorplan

These photos were taken from Owen's bedroom window and offer a little bit better vantage point.

Photo #1 show what's done so far on the back wall. I drew in where the swing set used to be. We moved it until we're done, but will move it back to the same spot. All the mud will be covered with sod, except where the swing set is and that will be mulch. Behind the wall will be landscaped with mulch and plants that a) grow in the shade and b) deer won't eat.

Photo #2 shows the mountain of dirt that Jerry created with the CAT. We'll be renting it again this summer to spread it all out. The swing set is over there temporarily, until we're done and the new location of the woodpile is behind that. Jerry and Josh moved about 10 railroad ties that were formerly the retaining walls under the deck and next to the hot tub. Those walls are now block. The railroad ties are the base for the woodpile. All the yellow junk shows what will remain forest growth. There's an ongoing debate, but most likely the area where the mountain is will be grass.

Photo #3 shows where the woodpile used to be. My pregnant friend Carrie and I moved the whole thing on Memorial Day.

These are the CAD drawings Jerry did of the plans. They're pretty accurate for the most part. The wall in the back has taken on a more wavy curvy line. The left is the backyard and the right is the front yard.

Those pictures actually make sense to me. They look good!
And...they make me cry. We miss you guys so much. Sniff...sniff...SOB!
On a related note (related to me missing you, not related to retaining walls, which we do need but won't be doing anytime soon...)Chase is STILL talking about going back for an MBA and a couple days ago he said, 'What about Iowa State? That's a good school!" I, of course, corrected him, "University of Iowa, Chase, and yes it's a good school." To which he replied, "Oh, right. I guess I shouldn't make that mistake around Steve." Correct. Or Owen, for that matter.

My eyes have been opened...

Thanks for the diagrams! I get it now and I don't feel like an idiot anymore. Ok, maybe just not AS MUCH like an idiot, since I've got a severe case of Mom-brain lately. (A lady in CVS asked me the other night if she could help me with something. I said, "Can you remember what I came here for???") It looks like it will be lovely at some future point in time, and until then I don't envy all that mud. I have enough of it in my own backyard for a couple more weeks until we get our sod down.
