Holy Hanna, where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday that I was in labor waiting for Jerry to finish cleaning the garage before heading to the hospital to bring Owen into the world. A lot has happened in two years, but the demo project that began the night before Owen's birth is still not quite complete. So, to mark his second birthday we demo'd our yard, front and back with plans to finish landscaping by 2010.

He's so dang cute. While opening his presents, he would hand each tiny piece of torn wrapping paper to Nana and say, "Here, put it in the garbage." His favorite gift was a helium balloon, not even the fancy mylar ones. Just a plain black balloon. Talk about low maintenance. I could tell that it was going to be a tragic parting at bedtime, so I made a big deal of the balloon having to go night night in the corner. Luckily, he was OK with that. I'm not so sure that will work for church tomorrow.

Lots of people wondered how we'd celebrate his big day. Being fourth doesn't really bode well for any fanfare on one's birthday. I did make a Hawkeye cake and bought gold and black balloons. Gaby taped a couple white streamers to the walls and we called it good. He played outside all day long in the mud and rocks and holes daddy is digging. It probably ranks in his top three best days EVER!

On a non-birthday note... In our family we use nicknames a lot. Many gifted by others, some bestowed by us. Taylor is Tay, Ta May May, Tayloria Kilgoria, Taylor Bean. Lydia is Lydi Love Bug, Lydi Lou, Lid Lou, Lou Lou. Gaby is Goose, Gaby Goo, Goosey, Girly. Owen is O-Man. I usually refer to the lot of them by

Eenie

Mee-nie

My-nie

and Mo.

And I most loving refer to Gaby and Owen as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Thanks to Nana for finding these great shirts at Disney World.

Thanks Kids for being all kinds of awesome. I love you too much.

If you were gettin' dirty on Owen's birthday, that's the best present you could give him!
