This is a shout out to Anna, my SIL, who so wants to get back into tip top running form. I took advantage of my live in babysitter and the first real spring-like day we've had this season and went for my first run in probably 10 months. I knew it wasn't going to be pretty. Even though I'm in great swimming shape, running makes you feel things you just don't feel in the water.
To say there was a slight breeze would be like saying this winter was mild. When I spit over my right shoulder, it would hit me in the left side of my face. There were white caps on the normally placid lake. And my cheeks and eyelids were seriously flapping, just like you see in the cartoons. My maybe 2 mile effort felt like a 5 mile trek uphill.
I should have known it was going to be ugly when the couple I was downwind of decided to stop on the trail to light up. Nice.
So, my cross training begins. I signed up for the same triathlon I did last year. I was fun, but I wasn't prepared enough for it. I hope to put some miles on my shoes and bike in the coming months, but I just really don't like to run or bike and I don't have lots of free time. We did sign up for a team event in September that should be fun - 10 hours of triathlons and all I have to do is swim. That's my kind of triathlon.

I'm living through you vicariously, Sara. Though I'm not sure I'd be running if it involved eyelid-flapping.
I should have taken advantage of Jerry being here on Thursday morning and gone for a solo morning run but I didn't. If I had read this blog I would have! Ugh!
