JerBRIA

Ever heard of RAGBRAI? Chances are if you don't live in Iowa and/or are not into biking, then the answer is most likely no. RAGBRAI stands for Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. We actually first learned about it while living in San Diego, through some of Jerry's biking friends.

We haven't participated in it, yet, but the general idea is that the route takes you across Iowa over the course of a week averaging 68-70 miles per day. There's a big party in each little town where the riders camp. So that's about the jist of RAGBRAI.

JerBRAI is Jerry's Bike Ride Across Iowa. The Ironman is less than 2 weeks away, so Jerry completed his last big bike ride in preparation for it. He planned to leave Friday at 1, so exactly when did he leave? 3pm, you almost always have to add an hour or two. I have explained numerous times in the past few days, I stopped worrying about Jerry about 7 years ago. So, when my cousin called me Friday afternoon to ask in she had indeed just passed Jerry on Highway 30, I said, Yep. And when my Aunt Deb on Saturday said she almost ran over a biker on Highway 169, I said, Oh, that was Jerry!

My Grandmother was worried about his safety, as were many other cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. but not me. He arrived safely around 1pm in Humboldt completing his 196 mile trip in about 11 hours. My Grandma wanted to local paper to come and tke pictures of him biking into town and do a story on him :-) But the Humboldt-News is closed on Saturdays.
