I went on vacation and all I got was broken fingers...

And so, our funtastic family vacation ended with a trip to the Rapid City (South Dakota) Regional Hospital ER yesterday morning. Owen's middle, ring and pinky fingers were crushed in the bathroom door at our hotel accidentally by his sister. I was in the shower and heard the crunch and then the scream. Jerry immediately splinted the fingers and gave him Motrin. Luckily, due to Jerry's mountain biking accident (aka near-death-experience) earlier in the week, we had plenty of medical supplies on hand which were used in aiding Owen's new injury.

While Jerry and Owen were being tended to at the hospital, I took the girls to Perkins for breakfast. This non-event almost turned into yet another emergency as I crunched down on a piece of broken plate in my hash browns! Our breakfast was free and we were on our way.

The x-rays were not conclusive, but the Dr. thought that his middle finger was broken. He was wiggly during the x-rays so it was hard to tell. He's in a splint for the week and the bones if they are broken should heal quickly. He traveled fine, considering we decided to drive all the way home from the Black Hills - 12 1/2 hours, and this after the trauma of the morning.
