The First Day of School 2007

Summer is over. Boo Hoo! The girls started school yesterday. Lydia in first grade and Taylor in eighth (eegads!). I still remember 8th grade at CCMS. My homeroom teacher was Mr. Funk. My BFF were Bobby and Ann. 8th grade was the only time in my life that I had detention. The entire band got detention for throwing around Mr. Rhine's carpet squares that he used to erase the chalkboard. The drummers started it. I played field hockey for the first time, swam for the Falcons and ran track. I also remember getting pantsed by Uma after winning the 8th grade girls indoor floor hockey tournament, in front of Dave Sheller and Kyle Stokes.

Enough of my walk down memory lane.

Lydi's teacher, Mrs. Lake, is a UCSD alumni, just like Jerry. So, we love her already. She's a SoCal girl, born and raised. She used to be a swimmer, too. Lydi had a fun first day, but is home sick with a fever today. Bummer! She's not sick, but the fever is enough to keep her home for the day.

Taylor loves 8th grade so far, all 3 hours, that she had yesterday. Her favorite subjects are Language Arts and Social Studies (early American History she said, Lyss!) She didn't have time to finish her L.A. questionaire in class... the first question was how many books did you read this summer? She could only recall 10, including HP 4-7 (in total weighing more than she does). She's auditioning for OPUS again this year and is doing her third year of show choir. She's in band, chorus and still taking piano. The school is doing a play about the trial of Goldilocks and she's planning to try out, as well as do the musical in the spring. After actually enjoying the swim team this summer, she is thinking about swimming for her school this winter, too.

Holy Cow they started school already??? I don't go back until the 29th, and my STUDENTS don't come back until the 4th! Crazy!! But they look so cute! And Taylor is WAAAAY too grown up with her straightened hair and all that. And props on Early American history... that's my favorite history, too! Aaaah. I Love your kids. Did Gaby start joy school yet??

Joy School starts after labor day, she's anxious though. She asks me every day if it's time for Joy School. Next week nastics starts. Yippee. I'll have to get a video clip of her on the tramp. It's hilarious. Jerry's race is in 2 weeks - yikes. His side still hasn't recovered from Mt. Scrapemore.

First: Where did Taylor get that shirt and do you think it comes in an XXL for me?
Second: What, Taylor didn't let you follow HER for pictures? So not fair. I would love to see her getting her locker assignment and trying to remember how to turn the dial just right...
Third: Why is Lydia so insanely cute?

Her shirt is way cute, Kohl's kids' section. She's also sporting her first pair of size 0 jeans, believe it or not the 00 were too small! She's elated to be able to shop at the cool stores at the mall and find things that fit.
