Remember how absolutely fantastic a snow day was when you were a kid? A free day to stay home and play in the wonderful fluffy goodness falling from the sky! Moms have a slightly different perspective - All the kids are home, so I have to keep them from killing each other and destroying the house for the next 8 hours.
Today is our third or fourth snow day for the season. We've also had one early dismissal and several late starts due to this crazy, crazy winter. I think as of this morning we had 12" and it hasn't stopped snowing yet. It's quite beautiful as long as you can stay indoors and know you don't have to drive anywhere in it. Our streets haven't been plowed, so I must assume that all efforts are being made to keep the interstates and main travel roads clear, a task that is surely not easy when the snow just keeps coming and the winds have now picked up, so we can expect drifting, too.
The kids bundled up early to help dad shovel and I haven't seen them since. Owen went outside with "the guys" and played for about 10 minutes, which was enough to satisfy his longing for the great outdoors.
Gaby's been on a mission to see if she can drive me to my breaking point, most of her efforts have been quite close to succeeding. She's happily sitting in front of the TV now watching the Belle conquer the nasty Beast with her loving kindness. I could use some of that around here.
Earlier, Taylor brought her home from a sledding expedition gone awry in full blown tantrum mode. I decided to dump her in the tubbie to try and redirect her aggression, which worked. She quietly played for 30 minutes with the bubbles and jets on. As she was finishing she said, "I wish I didn't have any sisters. And I wish I didn't have a Lydi. And if you weren't an ugly mom then I wouldn't have to be here. Can I have hot chocolate, please?" Her brain makes no sense to me.

LOL! That is too good! It makes me feel so much better that there are other kids like my Sarah out there!
You always make me laugh, or bring me to tears Sarah! Again, how far do we live from one another:)? Talk to you soon...lets plan on it!
Tammy
I'm jealous of your snow. We've had several "snow" days and delays for - wait for it - rain. And ice. Can't go outside and play in that. We're getting all of your weather leftovers, but its always just rain. We've had 5 inches of rain this season, which would be FABULOUS were it snow. Love the pictures. I'll keep looking and dreaming. See, for us, snow days are a tradeoff, not extra time home. All snow days are made up -- and I'd rather have them home with 12 inches of snow than just some random Monday. :-)
And, must be something about Blanchard genes -- Mason said I was "not pretty" last week, but that it was ok because I was pretty on the inside. Then he looked at me a little longer (I was sick) and he said I probably wasn't pretty on the inside either. U-G-L-Y, we ain't got no alibi, we ugly, yeah yeah, we ugly, Woooo!
Tell it how it is Mason! He'll need some sensitivity training in the future. Um, as for snow, guess what, it's snowing! Enough already!!! It's been -30 wind chill, doesn't that mean it's too cold for snow?
Well I'll brag and say that Cameron tells me I'm "cute" all the time. It's also his favorite thing to say to Sophia. Love that.
I will say that I miss Gaby terribly, but it's probably best that she and Miles live so far away from each other. They're powers combined could be catastrophic.
That kind of snow is exactly why we moved to GA early instead of waiting for Daddy back in Garmisch. If I'm pg and can't ski, why bother dealing with cleaning 8-12" of snow off the van and moving it from one side of the outdoor parking lot to the other at 7:30 every morning so the snow plows can do their thing??? No way, Sista. At least you have a nice warm garage for the Quest. If you're looking for some blessings to count, there's one for you! My kids haven't said I'm ugly or cute (yet), but I can brag about the lovely spring weather we're having: it's been sunny, low 70's here. Ahhh...
Yesterday we had 4 inches of snow, immediately followed by a good coating of ice, and then an inch of rain today. I echo Deb's complaint about all the RAIN we've gotten this winter. Rain... it sucks. It leaks into my basement. It's ugly. It freezes over night, and then turns my morning commute into a treacherous carnival ride. And Gaby is crazy. You're so hot. Maybe she got confused and was thinking, "If my mom weren't so hot, Dad would have been able to keep his hands to himself and then I wouldn't be here (in existence...)". I'm sure those are the deep thoughts she was having. But the calming mist off the hot bath probably fogged her brain up and she confused ugly with pretty. Or maybe it's just that kids now-a-days always say the opposite of what they mean. Like, how "that's so hot" has replaced, "that's so cool". You see where I'm going with this.
LOL Alyssa. You're phat!
Which in kid-speak means I'm phskinny, right Deb? Just checkin...
Phatty, you phskinny. You ain't no badunkadunk butt. I got all your junk in my trunk. (Dawg, pass the fudge.) Word out, yo.
