Weekend Update

While our southern dwelling family members are practically floating away in all the recent rain they've had, we are enjoying blissfully perfect and highly unusual summer weather. We were without A/C for almost 2 weeks and it wasn't so bad until the final 2 days when the heat and HUMIDITY settled in. And as soon as the new unit was installed and running, a cold front moved in and I turned it off and opened up all the windows.

Today was a day to work outside, and we actually made some progress on some much needed projects. Jerry swam early this morning and followed it up with a 75 mile bike ride followed by locking himself out of his car.

At the beginning of the summer we had mighty aspirations of tackling the landscaping of our front and back yards. The new A/C unit has pretty much put that on hold. I did buy lots of mulch and replanted and moved around some hostas from the back to the front and mulched around trees. That will have to suffice for the landscaping redo of '07.

Jerry decided to repair the deck (thanks, Herb). It's only been 11 months since the "tree trimmers" came and dropped a tree on the deck. We debated redoing the whole thing, making it bigger, making it covered, using wrought iron bars, using that plastic decking material... then we got the new A/C unit and opted for nailing the darn thing back together. Maybe next year... The kids were great help with mending and painting. Earlier we paid Lydi and 2 neighbor boys to stack chopped wood, so we're almost done cleaning up the mess Herb and crew left behind.

Owen has changed a lot in the past couple weeks. He's crazy, I guess he's just like the rest of us. He's loud. And the boy can eat. Taylor pointed out to Nana that Owen doesn't know the word more yet, he just says ahhhhhh! until you give him more. Everything he sees is either Mom or Ball. He knows lots of other words, but Mom and ball seem to cover it all for him. In the video, Max comes up the pool and takes a drink, Owen watches and then gives it a try. Pretty funny. (Sorry this one is sideways, anyone know how to rotate a movie?)

The other videos (terrible lighting on the second one, sorry) are of Gaby singing. Lately, she sings everything. Her made-up songs are hilarious. She still has her deep bass voice and a nice vibrato.

That is so cute of Gabby. She was singing the other day at my house and I was very impressed with her singing. It was very cute. She is going to be a great singer!!!

Cameron actually said "thank you" at the end of the second Gaby video. We LOVED LOVED LOVED them. Talk about a PASSIONATE singer! Get into it, girl!
As for Owen, I think he's bigger than Miles. Though, there may be a competition for the bellies. Miles rocks his pretty round...
Thanks for the update! Now we're counting the minutes until the reunion. And a blissful one it will be for the cousins, I'm sure.

oh it will be a blissful reunion for all. I don't think I can really put into words how excited I am to see everybody! We all just need to buy up a huge block of houses somewhere and just be neighbors... Anyway, all the pictures and videos were GREAT! Nice job putting the kids to work, especially on that wood pile. I know lydia's only like three feet tall, but that pile of wood was huge!!! She is tooooo cute with those teeth! What a girl. And of course Owen in his pool... I really did enjoy the face forward dive onto the patio! And Gaby's singing... man she's got me beat. My songs don't hold a candle to her "I love my cute baby little cute baby Owen little brother". Man. How was camp?? Stories? Did Taylor love it????

OMG! Loved it. Loved the singing, loved the "getting a drink", loved how your entire family walked around Gaby like what she was doing was completely apart of your every day life!!! Loved it!

See you all soon!
