I took Gaby and Lydi to the parade that followed the run. It's just a ton a kids riding their decked out bikes and throwing candy. We sat at the beginning of the route, so ALL the kiddos were very eager to dump piles of candy at our feet. In Lydi and Gaby's eyes that was WAY better than being in the parade.
We then spent the afternoon with Monka and Nana where the kids played in the big inflatable pool. Jerry biked there, so he's keeping up with his training. We ate yummy food, of course and went to see fireworks. Owen had already crashed, so Jerry stayed with him while we went to enjoy the show. I love fireworks.
So, now we're counting down to the reunion. All I can think about is the food, what to make, what to take. Jerry is bringing his bike. I hope the high altitude doesn't do him in.
For FHE last week, we helped a neighbor clear some of his yard and planted some plants. I now have Poison Oak, a mild case, on my right hand and left leg. Itchy stuff I tell you. It's not bad, so I hope it clears up fast.
We were up late on the 3rd and 4th, but finally got around to doing "sprinklers" on the 5th.

Awwww Max is all grown up! Wonderful pics, as usual. I must say I'm disappointed that Jerry didn't whoop up on those Kenyans. And what are those Kenyans doing in Iowa?? At any rate, I'm sure Jerry would run faster if Lions were chasing him. Maybe instead of investing in a new bike, you should invest in a Lion. For training purposes. And then the kids can put together some sort of circus act, too. Yeah.
This is going to be a series of random comments.
1. Sam is bringing his bike as well, even if that means strapping Makena to the roof.
2. Taylor's teeth look great- Ah the magic of braces and money.
3. WOW, I remember when you got Max. Has he calmed down alot? Everyday I pray that Makena calms down. I can handle another year or so of puppyhood but after that, she's going to have to learn to be a good labrador.
Can't wait to see everyone.

In response to K's random comments,
1) Jerry's bringing his road bike, so he'll be staying on pavement, while Sam hits the trails (I'm assuming he's still Mt. biking)
2) Ah yes, money.
3) Max is a GREAT dog, even for non dog lovers - right Anna? He's super protective of the kids, likes to herd them when we go on walks. He doesn't jump up unless you give him the slightest inclination that you might consider liking him or petting him or looking at him. Owen LOVES Max ("dog, ball, dog, ball...") He barks at people walking by the house - it drives me crazy, but it serves its purpose. One night we had some shady characters in our yard in the wee hours of the morning and Max alerted us immediately. Good Boy! I'm quite certain, though, that a lion would have been more effective in scaring off the prowlers. Good idea, Lyss. I'll have to see what I can find on eBay.
I'm glad to hear the Max is being a good "protector" of the little ones. Sam is bringing his mt. bike because we are going to Moab and Zion National Park during our vacation out West and he cannot be in Moab and "not mountain bike" the "best mountain biking ever", Right.....
