I did my usual Friday morning routine which goes something like this: sleep in until 5am (the extra 15 minutes was divine) and go swim, volunteer grading spelling tests while chasing 2 maniac ingrates (thanks for the reminder, Chase R.), grocery shop with the ingrates which has got to be equivalent to waterboarding. The rest of the day went something like this: the kids had a 1/2 day so pick up Taylor, drop Taylor off, pick up Lydia, drop Lydia off, go to lunch with BFF and Mom with NO ingrates, go to Target sans ingrates and only spend $20 (that is a miracle). Jerry and I had a wonderful night out at a fabulous restaurant in town (not a chain!) and topped it off with an appearance at a co-workers' party where everyone except us was intoxicated. Birthday present - Gift certificate to spa.
Saturday started much the same as Friday, except Taylor had a 5:45am drop off for a temple trip to Nauvoo with the youth. Birthday present - not having to go.
Lydia had a soccer game on Saturday. This season has been downright awful. All games having to be canceled because of weather, namely snow, snow and rain, rain, rain. Jerry stayed home with Thing 1 and Thing 2. Birthday present - a brilliantly executed breakaway resulting in Lydia's first goal of the season.
Then the real fun began. My SIL Deb was so blessed when my thoughtful bro gave her a necklace with a rock to match the bling on her finger for their 10 year anniversary last year. My hubby must have taken note in how much this impressed me. Birthday present - not one, not two, but 400 rocks!
And thus began the landscaping project. Jerry took off Monday and Tuesday this week and worked his butt off. I mostly corralled the ingrates, but managed to shovel my fair share of gravel, rocks and dirt. If the weather cooperates we should be done by June 2010.

THAT'S AWESOME!!! I'm so glad you got to have a fabulous birthday weekend! Oh, and uh...yeah I meant to send you a card...uh so yeah...uh...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hahaha...Anyway, where exactly is all that stone going? Backyard? Front yard? Are you building a patio or something? And dang, June of 2010 is a loft goal to get that all done. Especially since I'm sure you'll probably get another foot of snow before your winter is officially "over". Haha! But best of luck with the project! We've got it easy, we just have to wait and watch grass grow. It's a very slow process, totally boring.
In your interesting condition, watching the grass grow seems like the perfect thing to do (I'm reading a book about the French Revolution/Josephine Bonaparte and they refer to all pregnant women as being in an interesting condition)
Sara, I can't take credit anymore for being thoughtful. I now have MOMnesia and birthdays come and go and are realized weeks later! I'm so sorry I missed your's this year; especially when you called my boys and their birthdays to sing "happy birthday" (Zach's is today actually)
anyway, I'm super glad you had an awesome day to yourself. You totally deserve it
Love you xo
Crap.
I mean, Happy Birthday. I totally remembered. Really, I did. And by "remember" I mean that as soon as you said it in your blog I realized that I remembered.
Crap.
So anyway, I'm glad you had an awesome weekend. Those are the best. I love getting to Sunday night and feeling rested, happy and accomplished. It rarely happens, but when it does it is GOOOOOOOOD.
Which book are you reading? I read a trilogy about Josephine Bonapart last year. It was really good.
BLING!
"Remembering" and "Acknowledging" are not synonymous, ladies. (Is that a word?)
I do have your anniversary card all ready, however. Remind me to give it to you at Christmas. :-)
What about the no cards rule?
