10 Reasons why I haven't posted about the 3-Day yet

Updated

1. I was waiting for Deb to post first, because I knew it would be amazing. And it was.

2. I was waiting to get photos of the 3-Day from my dad since I took 2 pictures with my classy Kodak disposable camera during the walk. And Deb managed to find all the good ones and posted them already, so there.

3. I made Halloween costumes. Out of turtlenecks. One for Daphne and one for Velma. And purchased a Scooby Doo costume online and stressed about whether or not it would arrive in time. It did. I spent way too much money on said costume, but would have spent as much on a handcrafted Scooby suit and it would have looked crappy. Kind of like Velma's skirt.

4. I went to the pumpkin patch. And a Read Today For Tomorrow meeting. And Trunk or Treat. And soccer. And Walmart (you know, I don't think I've shopped for reals grocery shopping since Matt and Deb and the boys left in August). And Parent Teacher conferences. And concerts. And more meetings. And more soccer. I think my new title is SIC mom for Stay In the Car mom, because I am in and out of my driveway every hour on the hour or so it seems.

5. We refinanced the house. Or at least it's in process.

6. We refinanced the house in order to do some small projects around the house. Namely getting rid of 30 year old french doors in the back (one to the deck and one to the patio/walk-out) and the 30 year old front door. There has been no progress made on the doors, but we are currently without water and likely will be for the remainder of the weekend. The thought came to Jerry that maybe we should do some minor repairs before the appraisal. Snort! Minor always turns in to MAJOR for us/him. I'm thinking that the 30 year old tub in our bathroom isn't going to make it through this, because, you know, the obvious place to start when contemplating door replacement is the bathroom. And apparently the ceiling in the laundry room is now a casualty as well. (Interesting side note- we don't even need to have an appraisal at all) Also too, as of midnight, kitchen sink faucet is no longer functioning. Could be an interesting Saturday considering we're hosting a party tonight.

7. I started swimming and running again. Well, at least I'm making an attempt at getting back to a regular routine again. The 3-Day walking training was problematic for many reasons. Walking long distances takes a lot of time. I'd rather run and get 'er done. And I think I fell prey to the idea that if "it" was on my craftily crafted fine tuned 3-Day Training Spreadsheet, that Deb so lovingly referred to here, "it" counted. Even if I didn't do "it." Also too, 2 weeks before the walk I missed a flip turn and heeled the wall. This is extremely painful and I instantly bruised my heel. I feared reinjuring it, so I stayed out of the water. But now I'm back and it feels great. Bonus: Jerry is more out of shape than me, so I can once again, be faster. For a little while, and I'll take it.

8. I have a killer headache. Likely from eating too much Halloween candy. Surprisingly, all I can think about is wanting to find another Twix/KitKat/PB Cup in my kids' bowl-O-candy from trunk or treat.

9. My husband is on vacation for 2 weeks (one down, one to go) after working a ridiculous 16-18 hours a day 7 days a week for 2 months. I kind of like having him around.

10. I do not have a way with words. Hence my lists. And I'm still trying to come to terms with the whole take-my-straight-laced-father-in-law-to-a-boobie-bar debacle.

You had me well before "take-my-straight-laced-father-in-law-to-a-boobie-bar" but that really sealed the deal. :)

We love your updates....lists...and your costumes! Super cute!

Good luck with the renos. (ha ha!) This should lead to some serious blogging this spring.

Oh and YAY for bricking again! Are you thinking about Tri-ing?? It's so fun. We should really (seriously) think about doing one together ~ pool though, not open water...it freaks me out! LOL! or maybe a Kilgore relay. So fun

Wow. That list made me tired.

And to me it makes perfect sense to start door replacements in the bathtub. I know the doors in MY bathtub are in terrible shape.
Here here for 30 year old houses!

I wonder if it would be appropriate to re-enact the boobie-bar debacle at Christmas? Maybe as a musical dramatization? How do you think Dad would feel about it? And would you and Deb play the leads? I wonder who should be the boobie lady?

Amazing cosutmes! I still remember Ashley's from last year! And listmaking is a spiritual gift, I'm pretty sure. I'll even look it up.
